Package One- College Planning

• Pre-college Planning: high-school course review (including Advanced Placement/International Baccalaureate options); extracurricular review; community service review; summer experience review; internship or work experience review; advice regarding standardized testing needed ACT/SAT or Wonderlic

• College Selection: college aspiration review; student likes/dislikes in relation to college type, location, and culture; review of student career interests and possible college majors; financial considerations; transcript and class rank review; suggestions of colleges to research; review of support systems available at colleges being considered; creation of college wish list including safety, match and reach schools; tools for college comparison; college visit planning


• Application Process: application timeline creation; advice regarding early decision, early admission, and early action options; assistance with the common application and school-specific applications; disclosure of special needs; disclosure of special circumstances; reference letter advice; admission essay topic selection; admission essay critique and editing; synergy of multiple essays; student resume creation; student website creation; Facebook/social networking review; admission and alumni interview practice


• Scholarships and Financial Aid: financial aid resources; financial aid guidance on FAFSA and scholarship resources; scholarship essay topic selection; scholarship essay critique and editing


Decision-making: review of admission offers and assistance with the decision process; admitted

student visits/overnights; appeal negotiations; waitlist follow-through; negotiation of offer packages


Package Two- International College Planning

INITIAL CONSULTATION

• We review test scores, transcripts, extracurricular activities and any unique experiences to gain a clear view of a student’s interests, talents and aspirations.

HIGH SCHOOL PLANNING

• Create a detailed plan for high school coursework

• Ensure that students are taking full advantage of course offerings at their high school

• Provide referrals for transcript and other document translation

EXTRACURRICULAR AND ACADEMIC INTEREST EXPLORATION

• Help students apply their extracurricular and academic interests in novel ways, to deepen or broaden their experience in these pursuits.

• This includes finding internships and other programs that match up with student interests.

TESTING PLAN

• You will need either SAT or ACT scores, as well as TOEFL or IELTS testing to prove that you are academically fluent in English.

• We do not provide test preparation but can suggest ethical providers and help you plan a testing schedule that will enable you to meet all deadlines.

COLLEGE SELECTION

• Develop, evaluate and finalize a list of colleges to which the student will apply

• Learn about what to look for on college visits and prepare questions in advance

ESSAY ADVISING

• Work closely with the student to identify the information that is important to highlight and how to present it in the application

• Guide each student to bring to life their unique perspectives and talents in the various parts of the application from the activities list to the personal statement and supplementary essays

EXPLORATION OF FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS

• Discuss financial aid goals and how to achieve them

• Review key financial aid strategies and options

• Provide scholarship options

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

• Learn how to select and approach teachers for the best results

INTERVIEW PREPARATION

• Prepare students for on campus and off campus interviews and meetings with admissions officers; practice interview questions and expert responses

MAKE A DECISION

• Review the admission offers and aid with the decision process

• Appeal negotiations, follow-through if waitlisted, and negotiate offer packages

• Plan admitted student visits/overnights
